Abigail is from Lehi, Utah, and has been playing violin since 2012, and the viola since 2018. Currently, Abigail is playing in the viola section in the Southern Utah University symphony, with a music minor in progress. When Abigail isn't playing music, she likes to mountain bike, hike, bake, fly planes, and sew.
Anna was given her first flute at age 10, and despite brief explorations into other instruments it has remained a constant in her life. She has performed as a soloist at all levels from elementary to college, and has experience in marching and concert band, orchestra and various small ensembles. When not teaching Anna spends her time working at the local Heritage Center Theater, reading, crocheting, and spending time with her husband Justin.
Lara grew up in the Cedar City area and is currently a student attending Southern Utah University. She has been playing piano since she was 10 years old. She loves music and uses music as an outlet for expressing herself and connecting with other people. Lara takes an individualized approach to teaching each student depending on what they may need at the time. Her main goal with her students is to provide a comprehensive education while encouraging them to pursue their own interests when it comes to music. She welcomes all students of any age, skill level, and background!
Lily has been teaching voice at the music store since 2022. She studies vocal performance at SUU, and plans to pursue a career in opera. She has played roles such as Sarah Brown in the musical "Guys and Dolls", Olive Ostrofsky in the musical "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee", The Abbess in the opera "Suor Angelica", and Micäela in the opera "Carmen". She was the Vocal Performance Sterling Scholar for her highschool and performed with the Utah High School Honor Choir two years in a row. She has also sung with SUU'S Opus choir (as both a chorus member and a featured soloist) for three years. She is passionate about helping students discover their voices, sing healthily, and grow as musicians.
Marisa has been playing the piano for 40 years and teaching for 16. She has lived in Cedar for two decades now, but is originally from Logan, “the most beautiful place in the state.” Marisa also works as a reading aide at Enoch Elementary and enjoys her job there! She loves to create and use games in her lessons to solidify concepts that are being taught. She enjoys playing duets with her children, as well as Beethoven, William Joseph, and songs from musicals. In her free time, Marisa likes to watch sunsets, read, crochet, work out, take long walks with friends and plan game nights and dinners for her family. She believes that encouraging a love for music, in any form or on any instrument, will benefit students for their entire lifetime. “It is something that you can do when you are alone, or with friends, when you are young or old, and it brings so much happiness.”
Coming from Gilbert, Arizona where she studied Vocal Performance at Mesa Community College, Carrington is excited to be a part of the Cedar Music team! She has performed in a variety of shows/concerts including: Shrek the Musical, Beauty and the Beast, Broadway Solos Showcase, and others! Having experience as both a solo and group/ensemble performer, Carrington has loved performing a wide range of styles from classical, musical theater, and modern pop.
Jacob has been playing piano for 12 years! On top of his piano lessons he also played a few years in a jazz band and spent some time playing percussion. He enjoys playing all kinds of music but film soundtracks are his favorite! Jacob has been studying film for the last 3 years at SUU. When he’s not playing piano he enjoys playing video games, hanging out with friends, and getting out into the mountains! He has a little Maltipoo, Finn, named after Finn from Star Wars.
Dave has been playing the guitar for over twenty-five years. He loves and plays almost any music that features a guitar - from the blues, folk and outlaw country, to rock and roll, heavy metal, punk, and grunge. Dave is newer to teaching guitar, but not to teaching. He's spent over fifteen years teaching college creative writing. In addition to playing the guitar with a couple Arizona bands during the warmer months, Dave spends much of his leisure time drawing, painting, sculpting, and hanging out with his dog, Frasier. His current dream is to start a band in Cedar.
Nate has played guitar for the last 11 years. He got his first electric guitar at the young age of 12 years old and has been an avid player ever since. Nate played in the band "2nd Story" in high school with his friends and later founded the band "Tykoona" with his brother, Tyler. Nate plays a wide range of music, focusing primarily on songs and styles that are riff-driven. Besides the distorted fast-paced tunes he plays on his electric guitars; Nate also loves to sit in his room with his acoustic guitar to sing, play, and write softer tunes. Aside from his interests in guitar and music, Nate loves to hike, wakeboard, travel, and spend time with his family and friends.
Sheldon has been playing drums for 10+ years in a variety of situations and styles. He plays in several local bands and is currently a student at SUU studying percussion. After school Sheldon hopes to work his way into the studio and touring scene in Nashville! Some of his biggest influences come from metal music including Sleep Token and Currents. Outside of music Sheldon enjoys spending time with his wife camping, climbing and watching their favorite shows.
